When having a home built on the coast, here are a few building tips you may want to consider.

1. Add an outdoor shower

When you live on the coast, it is a wonderful convenience to be able to cool off and wash off outside.

2. Take in the view on your versatile screened porch

The view when you live on the coast is simply breathtaking but the bugs can get annoying during the summer months.  So tell your contractor to include modular screens on your open porch.

3. Know the laws

Your home builder should be able to help you with this but you can enlist the help of a lawyer too. Make sure you check regulations early on what and where you can build.

4. Keep the water out of the house

Having the soil tested can predict flooding around your coastal home. If water collects and stands on your property or your soon-to-be neighbor’s basement always floods, design in a drain system for your home.
