From a Quaint Coastal Cottage to a Comfortable Coastal Home
Many homeowners choose to buy older homes in Cape Cod that need a little tender love and care because there are significant savings involved. This Old House featured a young Cape Cod couple who decided to take this route of buying a cottage “fixer-uper” in a great neighborhood and renovating it to become their perfect coastal home, fit to raise their growing family.

The couple found this perfect wreck which is a 1,400-square-foot 1953 Cape Cod, brimming with potential yet needing everything except walls and a foundation.
With the addition of a front porch, the new exterior included casual comfort and a beautiful facade that really feels like home.
The kitchen was quite gloomy with all the pine wood and not much natural light was being brought in or reflected throughout the space.
The new open kitchen was a part of a great room plan that included the family room and dining room. Now plenty of natural light can freely flow through the space.
In the old living room the wallpaper was so busy and the oak floors so worn that the room felt much smaller than it actually was.
The living room was expanded and the beautiful white walls gave it a fresh new feeling.
