So you’re updating your home with custom building and you’ve decided that you’re going with a beachy theme. Fortunately, custom building allows you to create a cohesive theme that will make you feel like you’re living on a beach vacation. There are tips and tricks that will easily update your beach style:

  • Textures – seagrass rugs for the floor, recovered wood for a coffee table, and wicker furniture will all help create an updated beach style in your home, and they’re great green alternatives.
  • Clean lines – white is a great background color when you’re going for a beach style. Bright nickel fixtures bring the maritime look in while dashes of beachy colors such as blues, greens and yellows will really pop against the white.
  • Beadboard – seen in many coastal cottages, it creates visual interest while still having clean lines and minimal other decorations. It’s a great choice for giving a beachy feel to your master bathroom with custom building.
  • Unconventional and eclectic – is a great thing when you’ve got a coastal theme. Life is easier and more carefree on the beach, so feel free to vary from the norm. Interesting and eclectic decorative pieces are also always sure to be conversation starters when you have guests over.

The joy of custom building is that you will be able to tastefully update the beach style in your home without filling your living room with sand, shells and beach chairs. One of the nicest things about beach style living is its simplicity. If the room fills overwhelmed with the beach style, remove all the items and begin to replace them individually until the room has the right feel for you. When done correctly with custom building, beach style can really make you feel like you’re living on vacation, and who wouldn’t want that?
