Lone Figure and the Landscape Showing at Cahoon Museum in Cotuit
Cape Cod is the inspiration for so many fine artists, and we have so many wonderful galleries and museums here on the Cape.
The Cahoom Museum in Cotuit is currently showing Lone Figure and the Landscape exhibition at the Cahoon Museum on view from May 3-June 5. The exhibit examines how the figure is placed in the landscape and how this placement gives the viewer clues about the figure. It showcases such artists as Selma Alden, Joan Chase Augustino, Sam Barber, Anne Boucher, Martha Cahoon (1905-1999) Samuel Chamberlain (1895-1975), and many others.
The Cahoon is holding a panel discussion with three prominent Cape Cod artists who are featured in the exhibit– Heather Blume, Jon Friedman and Susan McLean. They’ll talk about the importance of the figure and the landscape in their works.
The panel discussion is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24 at 11am.
The Lone Figure and the Landscape exhibit runs through June 12.
